The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply across all EU member states, with the official date for enforcement set for 25 May 2018. This reform has significant implications for business, not only for those based in the EU, but for all organizations operating within the EU market. It doesn’t just apply to organisations – unless processing for household purposes, it also applies to individuals.
BSI Hong Kong held a GDPR Seminar on 3 May and it attracted more than 40 participants from different companies.
After the opening remarks from Mr Coleman Tse, Mr Phillip Chan started the seminar with “GDPR: What and How - What are the regulations and major concerns, how to implement”. He explained why GDPR is related to us and shared 20 steps to GDPR compliance. Mr Henry Ng further shared on “GDPR: Preparing for Success” and provided 7 keys tips for GDPR implementation. Ms Caroline Chancé shared on “GDPR - Understanding the EU’s Mindset” and some useful GDPR tools.
What is EU GDPR?
he European General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) aims to harmonize data protection law across the Single European market and put individuals back in control of their personal data.
